Based on NASA-developed technologies for the collection and analysis of blood samples in space, a new set of blood separation products is being developed that allows a user to collect, in only seconds to minutes, quantities of serum/plasma from whole blood that are of excellent analytical quality. No longer do heavy centrifuges need to be transported to remote sites, nor do police detectives need to hurry back to a lab to avoid sample spoilage, nor do parents of infants need to worry about incorrect test results that could occur if the serum was not separated from the blood cells before dry storage.
